Windows 7 Printer Error 1324


When you try to install a printer driver software for your new printer, error 1324 may occur on Windows 7 operating system. This error also occurs when you try to install software like Pinnacle Studio Ultimate, Microsoft MapPoint or Microsoft Streets.

Why am I getting Windows 7 error 1324?

1. Registry entries are pointing to a file, folder or drive on your computer that no longer exists

Registry Entries are Pointing to a File, Folder or Drive that No Longer Exists

The setup program retrieves information from the registry about the files, folders or drives that need to be processed. When a registry reference is not correct, say a drive referred by the registry is disconnected or a folder path is invalid, Windows 7 error 1324 may occur.

In this case, you need to replace the values of such keys that refer to non existing objects. Download a good Registry Cleaner and fix the problems found in your registry.

A Faulty Installation Media

By the term 'installation media', I meant the media where the setup program is stored. For example, a CD ROM or USB Flash Drive.

A corrupted media may lead to Windows 7 error 1324 due to problems accessing its essential image files. Thus it is recommended to download a fresh setup from the internet and run the installation again.

Set Default Language to English for Non Unicode Programs

An error Windows 7 error 1324 may appear with description '... contain an invalid character' if a language other than English is set as the default language.

You have to set English as the default language for all the Non Unicode programs. Step are as follows:

1. Click Start | Control Panel.
2. Click Clock, Language and Region icon.
3. Click Region and Language.
4. Click Administrative tab.
5. Click Change System Local button under Language for Non-Unicode Programs frame.
6. Select English (US) from the Current System Locale drop down box.
7. Click OK | OK.

Recreate Another User Profile

Windows 7 error 1324 appears due to a corrupted user profile. A question may raise why does your user profile was corrupted. The answer is simple- due to deletion of important user account files or having unsupported characters (like '/') in the user name.

1. Click Start | Control Panel.
2. Click User Accounts and Family Safety | User Accounts.
3. Click Manage Another Account| Create a New Account.
4. Select a type such as Standard or Administrative.
5. Then click Create Account button.
6. Afterward delete the existing corrupted user account.

Check the Status of your System Files

Using System File Checker (SFC), check system files for corruption and repair them automatically. This will help you fixing Windows 7 error 1324.

1. Insert the media you used to install your operating system.
2. Click Start | Run.
3. Type SFC/ ScanNow.
4. Press ENTER.
