Lexmark printers use the Windows sub-system print spooler program to process print requests. If the printer doesn't receive requests, it won't print documents. Several issues can cause spooling errors.
Function
1. A print spooler receives print commands, then determines the number of pages and the content that it should send to the Lexmark printer. The print spooler also reserves memory to perform print operations.
Spooling Errors
2. A spooling error will appear if the incorrect driver is loaded for the printer, if the spooler doesn't have enough memory or if the wrong printer port is designated for the printer. One error in the print spooler can cause the entire print queue to become backed up.
Solutions
3. Allocate more RAM to the Lexmark printer if a lack of memory is causing the error. Clear the print queue in the Print section of the Windows Control Panel. Check to see if the Lexmark printer is connected properly.
